The Chronicles of Lola Bug

Once upon a time there was a guy, we'll call him Nate, and a gal, we'll call her Stacia.

They had a dog, we'll call her Roxie.

One day they decided that Roxie didn't cause enough chaos so they brought home a bulldog.

We'll call her Lola.

Lola was a rascal from the first time she hit the property on Higgins Ct.

But she was so lovable. And loved to love.

She was also somewhat...mischievous.

Lola got bigger.

And Lola learned to watch tv.

She was silly.

And some might say spoiled.

Then Nate and Stacia brought home baby Cooper.

Lola loved Cooper.

And his toys.

And the fireplace.

And Lola was a wonderful puppy dog. Because who couldn't feel better after just one look at this face?

I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE!!!

I love picking Cooper up from day care. He is always so excited to see me. He smiles real big and puts his arms out real wide and starts shaking all over.

So yesterday I went to pick him up and we went through our routine. I get him in the car, take him home, get him out of the car seat and just...sit. After a long day of work there's nothing better than kicking back and sitting with my baby. But yesterday, something special happened. I put my finger in his mouth to check that tooth that came in last week and I found something unspeakable.

Another tooth.

Right next to the first one.

And there went another piece of my heart breaking right off.

Because that means he's getting bigger. That means he's getting older. That means that in the blink of an eye he's going to have a whole mouth full of those little white things. And while it's wonderful and fabulous and exciting, it also just reminds me that my baby isn't always going to be a baby. I savor every moment with him.

Today I stayed home with the little one. We were up all night last night and you can just look at the poor guy and tell he doesn't feel well. Another trip to the pediatrician told us that he has a cold that developed into an ear infection. My poor baby. However, since his 6 month appointment last Wednesday he's gained ten ounces! The big lug.

Here are a couple of pictures. Because I know you can't get enough. And I know that's the only reason you even get on the blog (ahem, Cheri). But hey, I'll take it.

Check out the open mouth. Glad there are no flies around.

This was taken before going in to see the doc. Poor guy didn't know that in just a few short moments he would be having a huge piece of wax removed from his ear. How do you like that mental image? That's what you get for just coming on to see pictures of Coop! You know what they say about paybacks.

Well I Thought It Was Funny

When you become a parent, what you think is funny and what other, non-parent folk think is funny are two totally different things. However, my kid is hilarious and cute and smart and I know you all agree. And no, for the hundredth time, I am NOT biased.

But today something very funny did happen. Cooper was eating bananas and we've figured out that if he thinks that he's feeding himself then it works out a lot better and he actually eats more. Sure, it's messy. But it's working so I will not complain (please see post on squash).

Anyways, as I was feeding the bananas to Coop-A-Loop I loaded up a big spoonful and handed it over. He ate the nanners and then started playing with the spoon. Somehow, he reared that thing back and hit himself square in the head with it. The funny part wasn't the bananas left in his eyebrows or the bananas on his nose. The funny part was the look that he gave that spoon. He furrowed his brow and gave that spoon a shocked look like, "Dude. What was that about?" Ha-larious my friends.

This is generally what Cooper looks like after a cage match with solid foods.

Also, dear friends, I ask you this. Does this look like a little girls outfit to you? The person that bought it for him (not to mention any names...GRANDMA GLO) said, "Now Stacia, it was in the little boy section. You put it on him for Valentine's Day!" I was so against it that I most certainly did not put it on him for the the big day of love. However, due to a diaper, um, explosion of sorts his Daddy decided to punish him with this girly outfit. Alright, and maybe Mommy got a little behind on the laundry and it was one of the only outfits left. But still! Is it cruel and unusual punishment to put your child in something like this? Have I ruined him for he rest of his life? Let's be honest, if it does ruin him I'm just gonna blame it all on his Dad anyways.

And with that daunting image (seriously though, he's still handsome even in a little girl's outfit...and did you check out the hearts on the feet?) I bid you good night.

A Couple More

Alright, I have a couple more new loves to reveal today. First, my new toy. My loving, wonderful, fabulous husband took me to the AT&T store yesterday and bought me an iPad. I wondered how much use I would get out of it and if I would use it like my mind said I would. We all know how this works. We long for something. We have to have it. We neeeeeed it. Then we get it and use it once or twice and throw it in the corner only to never use it again (i.e. the Wii Fit I got for Christmas in 2009, the jet tub, half of my closet, my golf clubs...wow, can we say wasteful Stacia?). However, the iPad is nothing short of amazing. Nate has now been calling himself an iPad widow. Now that I have this little beauty my housework that never gets done will, well, continue to never get done and cooking dinner will be a thing of the past. I have important stuff to do my new iPad. Don't bother me.

My second new love. These slow cooker covers that have been sitting in my cabinet drawer for months but I always forget about. I love using my slow cooker during the week but I hate cleaning up the bowl after using it. We've all made slow cooker meals before and know that the mess in a slow cooker is just about the worst. Especially if you're making something that can really get crusted on. You soak it, wash it, see the crust is still on there, scrub it with steel wool, put unsightly black scratches on it, and then realize that maybe the crust was better than looking at those ugly black scratches. But now there is a solution. These wonderful slow cooker covers.

Before starting you put them over the bowl...

Then put in what you're cooking. For me, it's ribs.

Cover and cook.

When you're done, you have a wonderfully cooked meal with relatively little mess. I'm telling you, it's wonderful.

By the way, look at my two handsome boys before church today. Do you get any more handsome than this?

Seriously, don't even get me started on all the wonderful things they were saying about Cooper after services. Seriously. I would hate to be a gloating Mom.

A New Love

There are several things that I love. God, my husband, my beautiful baby boy, my family and friends, potato chips, and smut TV just to name a few. I am now adding to my list. Blogs. I love them. They consume me. They get me through early morning pumping times, afternoon pumping times, and evening pumping times. They have bookmarks on my iPhone and iPad. They are fabulous. A lot of the blogs that I read are by Moms. A lot of them stay at home and all of them are ha-larious. Some that I read are from girls that I went to college with and miss dearly, but I can still feel like a part of their lives by just reading a simple blog entry.

Of course, ask my husband and he might tell you I'm silly because I've become so blog crazy. I believe that it was just Thursday that I told him about a tip I had read on one such blog that says if you add vinegar to your laundry then you don't have to separate said laundry. He then sent me a rather lengthy paragraph through the electronic mail that said that he essentially didn't think that it was fair that I had ridiculed him for years now about not properly sorting laundry even though he was a "Rose-Hulman graduate" and he "scored well on his SAT." But now that I had read it on a blog I believed it. He then went on to call me Stacia Rogers and told me that I could not be a Myers because a Myers would not do something like this.

And to think that I birthed this man's beautiful, drooling, man tooting child!

Anyways, let's get back on track here. Blogs can be useful in many different ways. If you aren't a blog reader, I strongly suggest that you check out the blogs that I have on my blog list. The Pioneer Woman is one of my favorites. She'll make you laugh until you urinate a little.

I now leave you with a picture of Nate during overtime of the Butler game today. Another thing that might make you pee a bit. GO DAWGS!!!!

Big Day Today

It was a big day in the Myers household today. Let me explain.

We're all sitting on the couch enjoying a little family time. All but Lola of course (who I secretly suspect is getting up on the leather furniture during the day...but that's a whole other can of worms). Anyways, I so lovingly stick my finger in Cooper's mouth and I was surprised by A TOOTH! That's right. My baby boy had his very first tooth pop through. The crazy part about it is that in that particular area there was no bump, no raised area, no indication that a tooth was going to come through. We actually thought that his first tooth would come through on the other side. My baby boy is really growing and taking off. I can't believe that he has a tooth. His little toothless grin is going to quickly disappear. Deep breaths Stacia. It's okay.

Cooper had a bath this evening for some, ahem, let's say diaper "issues" while at day care today. This kid is a hoot in the tub. First off, he loves a bath. He takes his legs and kicks and splashes and really gets a kick out of the water. He cracks himself up. Anyways, what I was getting at here is shown below. Awww.....

We also tried bananas for the first time tonight. He tolerates them better than sweet potatoes or squash, that's for sure!

Butler plays tonight and as the BYU/Florida game went into overtime I'm sure that it will be pushed back from it's original 9:57 time slot. However, I will try my hardest to stay awake at least for the first half. My old lady ways might get the best of me. Anyways, let's go Bulldogs! And with that, I leave you with a picture of a very cute bullydog in tribute to Butler.

While You Were Out

What a day! We started out the morning with quite a scare. I came down to make Coop a bottle only to come upstairs with him in our bed screaming and no Daddy around. So I pick munchkin up and begin feeding him when all of the sudden Nate comes rushing out of the bathroom frantically saying, "I can't see!" To make a very long story short he went to the eye doctor first thing this morning and he has dry pockets in his eyes. It's relatively common in LASIK patients and will be fixed with a prescribed salve, but it was very scary at the time.

After school I rushed to pick up Cooper and took him for his six month well baby appointment. He's 17 pounds (25-50 percentile) and 27 1/2 inches (75-90 percentile). Basically we have a string bean on our hands! We have a very healthy baby boy and we don't go back for three months!

After the well baby check Nate picked up Cooper and back to work I went. Tonight was a welcome for the sixth graders that will be coming to Tri-North next year. You know how sometimes you feel like your missing out on something really great and it just totally bums you out? That happened to me tonight. Here is the progression of pictures that I got from Nate.

And that's what I missed out on. All of that and I was only gone for a few hours! However, I was told that they had very good guy time together. I think that was probably code for "Why don't you leave us alone more often?" The answer? Because I just like them both so darn much.
